STEM Retreat

The Lord is good and His faithfulness lasts forever.

On returning home am expected to work for about 2months with FOCUS in any area of my choice. Together with Landi we opted to work with the ‘STEMers’. STEM is an acronym which represents Short Term Experience in Ministry. These are fresh and recent graduates who feel called to be involved in student ministry by receiving training especially in areas of leadership training and mentoring of themselves and then offer the same to students they will working with.

Together with the staff at FOCUS we managed to organize a retreat to prepare these students even as they are await the ongoing trainings. It was quite exciting for me to learn and also be reminded of some of the truths of scripture and ministry, which is what one needs for day to day life.

Lots of topics were tackled and of course time was not enough tocover all in detail. Much as we had a full week to share through these topics yet we left wanting more. Topics included; Homiletics (preparing and presenting a sermon), Hermeutics (study of bible interpretation), Time management, Financial management, Inner life of a STEMer, HIV/AIDS on campus, Friend raising, Challenges of a Student worker, Teamwork, Conflict management, Planning, Counseling, SWOT analysis.

The other exciting thing about the retreat was the fact that we had lots of time to get to know one another better and also have time in the evenings for games. I must say that it was surely a freshing time for me and so grateful to God for the opportunity.

Thank you for being involved in my life and continuously giving so that the work of God is done.

God bless you lots.
