Nakivale Refugee Settlement

The navigators invited me to travel together with them to Nakivale refugee settlement sometime in July this year. This was in preparation for a two day mission which was later to take place in August.
Nakivale refugee settlement is located in the South Western part of Uganda in a district called Isingiro. It receives refugees from especially Central and Eastern Africa. Currently it has people from Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Congo, and Sudan …
When these refugees come they have to start life afresh. They have lost properties due to the war in their home countries and of course loved ones. Most of these in fact are separated from their family. It is very heart breaking to meet a woman who lost children in the war and or even ended up in a different country while fleeing and are finding it hard to locate each other. Many of these walk several days before they get to the Ugandan border.
Amidst the refugees are Christians who have put their faith in Christ even before the war. These end up in the camps like all the rest and many times are looked to for explanations of the situation by fellow refugees. These have not lost hope but continue to study the Word and some start churches. However they lack Bibles for the congregation and also have no formal training as pastors.
It is against this background that the navigators of Uganda under the Church Discipleship Ministry together with Bro. Benson from Nigeria are involved. They were introduced by Innocent a brother from Congo who is involved with the Navigators. The whole involvement just shows how God connects us to people in order to accomplish his will.
For me it was coming in direct contact with the mess our leaders in Africa especially these specific countries have allowed to happen. How I pray that you would trust God with me and we be fully involved in praying for these leaders. I know that sometimes getting involved politically is a solution but above all, may we mourn with those mourning. I pray that God would move your heart more than ever to be on your knees and pray that there will be no more refugees but every one shall enjoy the abundance of their homes.
FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY

God bless you girl and may He keep shining His face on you. We have been called by God to be a light to this world and being a christian is about speaking hope to a world where people are hurting deeply. The good thing is that our dear Lord, promised to walk with us through it all and He taught us to trust Him even when circumstances choose to say otherwise. You loving others and choosing to use your time to reach out goes down in the good books of God and He will keep expanding your boundaries. I pray that our dear Lord may watch over you and He may be your strength in times of need. God bless you gal. I am proud of you.
